Billion Dollar Wreck
Everyone knows the story surrounding the sinking of the Titanic in 1912, but not many people are familiar with the vessel's sister ship, the RMS Republic, which sank three years earlier off the coast of Nantucket. Following the sinking, rumors spread that the Republic was carrying precious cargo, but it has yet to be uncovered. Lifelong treasure hunter Martin Bayerle has spent more than 30 years researching the ship, looking for proof of the existence of the 150,000 gold coins believed to be on board -- a bounty that would be worth $1 billion in current-day value. A 1987 expedition, during which he searched the wrong section of the ship, left Martin broke, estranged from his wife and imprisoned. Now, he is taking one more shot at finding the gold. Armed with decades of new research, he is convinced he knows the exact location of the gold. Martin is joined by his estranged son, Grant, as they lead a team of salvage divers into the water in search of the supposed buried treasure.
