Horse racing may be known as the sport of kings, but you don't have to be royalty to participate. All you need is a lot of money, at least in the realm of professional horse-race handicapping featured in this series. The expert handicappers travel the country -- from Saratoga Race Course in New York to California's Santa Anita Park -- as they compete in the annual National Handicapping Championship. The winner of the NHC earns the title of America's top handicapper and a prize of nearly $1 million. "Horseplayers" follows several of the nation's top handicappers, who share their methods for picking the right horses, placing the right bets, and having the guts it takes to win it all. Among the NHC participants featured in the hourlong series include former currency traders, a real estate agent and a retired NYPD officer.
